Friday, May 8, the combined music ensembles of IBCS will present “VICTORY & VALOR: Songs and Stories of America’s Struggle for Freedom.”
“Several different countries are represented in my choir. So I wanted to build a concert that would allow our international students to participate and still honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.” Pastor Dave Stertzbach, writer and director of the program, says, “I used the structure from a concert I sang in more than 35 years ago. I have always loved the theme of ‘This Struggle Called America.’”
Musical highlights include the College Choir singing songs of William Billings from the American War for Independence, music professor Dr. Brandon Dicks playing John Williams’ trumpet solo “With Malice Toward None,” the handbells playing a medley of songs from World War I, and the moving World War II story of the Four Chaplains.
