A sole bell rings out where there should have been silence. Everyone laughs. It’s not the first time this has happened! But no one is in trouble. We are in this together. This is the beginning of a new year with the IBCS Handbell Choir.
This year, our five-octave choir is composed of 18 students whose abilities range from beginner to advanced. We work together twice each week at the end of the school day, offering a time of relaxation (for some!) and the challenge of learning a new skill, functioning as a team, regardless of ability or previous experience. By December, we will have mastered a series of Christmas selections for the IBCS Lessons and Carols program. We love rehearsing as much as performing!
Over the thirteen years of our existence, I have been grateful for the generosity of donors who have contributed a fifth octave of handbells and five octaves of handchimes, as well as the necessary equipment. We are thankful for their support and encouragement. What a blessing!
