Ethereal sounds of voices blended in otherworldly harmony will fill the performance space on Monday, March 23, starting at 7:00 p.m. The IBCS Chamber Singers will present an evening of favorite choir songs on the theme of “Heaven & Earth.”
Pastor Dave Stertzbach, conductor of the choir, says, “I say 'favorite' because they are favorites in the choir world and are performed frequently around the world. Most will be unfamiliar to our audience. But they will become audience favorites as much as they have become favorites of our choir.”
Though each song is very different in musical style, they fit together well in theme and structure of the concert.
Musical highlights include Anton Bruckner's cathedral setting of Psalm 37:30-31 (“Os Justi”), Kim Arnesen's achingly beautiful “Even When He Is Silent,” three folk hymns arranged by Alice Parker, and the ubiquitous “Sing Me to Heaven.”
